Candle Lighting: on was held on Sept. 14, Friday Night at 7:00 p.m..
Many homes placed candles on their doorstep. Many neighbors gathered.
An estimated 2,000 folks attended the Borough of Hasbrouck Heights Candle Light Vigil held
7:00 p.m. Saturday, September 15th at Depken Field. The program included a Boy &
Girl Scout Honor Guard, Pledge of Allegiance, Invocation by Fred W. Diekman (First
Reformed Church), with comments by Mayor William J. Torre and Assemblywoman and Former
Mayor Rose Marie Heck. [Photos]
Flags: Many expressions of patriotism around town.
A collection station was set up by these youngsters at the Heights High School
on September 15th.
A collection station was set up by the Library during the Farmer's Market
on September 18th. Many business along The Boulevard also collected for the Red Cross.
Assemblywoman Rose Marie Heck, Mayor William J. Torre and distinguished members of the
Council were joined by Hasbrouck Heights Veterans in the raising the Memorial Park Flag to
full staff at noon on Sunday, September 23. President Bush had also raised "The
Colors" to full staff at Camp David as a sign of returning to normal.
