Preview the film Recovering Satellites
The VFW Post 4591 welcomes you to the private
screening of Recovering Satellites, a documentary film. In 1966, during the course of three
months, commencing in October and ending in December, three natives to the Borough of
Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey: Thomas James Holden, Michael Joseph Macarell, and Robert
Gandil; lost their lives while serving their country during the Vietnam War. On October
27, 2002, some thirty-six years later, the Borough of Hasbrouck Heights gathered to dedicate a memorial to the three men, and pay tribute to
those heroes of war. [More info about film]
Veteran's Memorial Walkway
Engraved brick pavers with Veteran's
names were placed in a Memorial Walkway in Veterans Park on Terrace Ave & Passaic late
April 2003. About 200 bricks were engraved and integrated into the walkway surrounding the

On November 6, 2002, the VFW sponsored a Field Trip for Euclid & Linclon
School students to the Intrepid Sea-Air Space Museum [Photo]
Vietnam War Memorial Dedication
On Sunday, October 27, 2002 at 2:00 p.m, a Vietnam War Memorial Dedication to the
Memory of Robert P. Gandil, Thomas J. Holden and Michael J. Macarell was held at the
Veterans Memorial Park.

Assemblywoman Rose Marie Heck, Mayor William J. Torre and distinguished members of the
Council were joined by Hasbrouck Heights Veterans in the raising the Memorial Park Flag to
full staff at noon on Sunday, September 23. President Bush had also raised "The

Staten Island for the Muscular Dystrophy Telethon.
