The Annual Memorial Day Parade began at 10:00 a.m. on May 30 at Williams Avenue, marched along Terrace Avenue and concluded at Veterans Memorial Park at Passaic Avenue. The parade was led by the Hasbrouck Heights Fire Department Honor Guard and the Hasbrouck Heights Police Department Honor Guard. Marchers included the Mayor and Council, Veterans from the VFW Post 4591 and American Legion James B. Scarr Post 106, Knights of Columbus, B.P.O Elks 1962, St. John the Diving/Care on the Corner, Hasbrouck Heights High School Band, several scouting groups and the Hasbrouck Heights Fire Department. A brief memorial ceremony was led by VFW Commander Ralph Daniels. Conchita Parker led the National Anthem and Fr. Rodrigo San Pedro of Corpus Christi Church delivered the invocation. Mayor Ronald R. Jones and former Mayor and Assemblywoman Rose Marie Heck commented on the significance of Memorial Day. Veterans, dignitaries and the public then placed their poppies at the base of the Monument. American Legion Commander Michael Cahill and Robert Burns did a roll call of the Veterans who had died -- with VFW Post 4591 Chaplain Charles Petro answering "Absent." The High School Band bugler played Taps. The final benediction was said by the Rev. Edward J. Glasser of the Community United Church. Light refreshments were served by the event co-sponsors at the James B.
