21st Annual Fireworks

On Friday, July 2, 2004 the Hasbrouck Heights Lions Club sponsored the 21st Annual Fireworks Program at Depken Field.   The Master of Ceremonies was Andrew Link III.  Music and entertainment was provided by Fun Time Entertainment; Dance team by Roberto's Dance Studio.

A short program began about 8:30 p.m. with the HH Police Department and VFW Color Guards presenting the colors. The Girl Scouts led the gathering in the Pledge of Allegiance.   The National Anthem was sung by Alyson Haggert.  The invocation was given by the First United Methodist Church.
Former Mayor and Assemblywoman Rose Marie Heck and Councilman Garrett Pepe provided remarks.  The Hasbrouck Heights Police and Kundert Volvo presented the Bike Marathon Awards.  A 50/50 was held.

The event included three inflatable amusement rides. Free tattoos were applied. Concessions, including freshly made popcorn and cotton candy, was provided by Taylor Rental (Ridgewood).  The Fire Department EMS provided free blood pressure checks.

Plaques were given to sponsors that provided extra fireworks to include Hackensack University Medical Center, Holiday Inn, Lovey'sPizza,  Kundert Volvo, IHOP, Crow's Nest, Dunkin' Donuts, Kearny Federal Savings, and Bergen Commercial Bank.

During the afternoon to the event, fire prevention officials were at the detonation zone to review the mechanics of the display and to insure compliance of fire codes and accepted industry procedures.
The  fireworks contractor was International Fireworks and set up the displays at the HH Little League fields.  At about 6:00 p.m. a brief and very fierce thunderstorm struck [photo], but the pyrotechnic set-ups were protected.  [Go to selected fireworks displays]
