21st Annual Fireworks
On Friday, July 2, 2004 the Hasbrouck Heights Lions Club sponsored the 21st Annual Fireworks Program at
Depken Field. The Master of Ceremonies was Andrew Link III. Music and
entertainment was provided by Fun Time Entertainment; Dance team by Roberto's Dance
Studio.
A short program began about 8:30 p.m. with the HH Police Department and VFW Color Guards
presenting the colors. The Girl Scouts led the gathering in the Pledge of Allegiance.
The National Anthem was sung by Alyson Haggert. The invocation was given by
the First United Methodist Church.
Former Mayor and Assemblywoman Rose Marie Heck and Councilman Garrett Pepe provided
remarks. The Hasbrouck Heights Police and Kundert Volvo presented the Bike Marathon
Awards. A 50/50 was held.
The event included three inflatable amusement rides. Free tattoos were applied.
Concessions, including freshly made popcorn and cotton candy, was provided by Taylor
Rental (Ridgewood). The Fire Department EMS
provided free blood pressure checks.
Plaques were given to sponsors that provided extra fireworks to include Hackensack
University Medical Center, Holiday Inn, Lovey'sPizza, Kundert Volvo, IHOP, Crow's
Nest, Dunkin' Donuts, Kearny Federal Savings,
and Bergen Commercial Bank.
During the afternoon to the event, fire prevention officials were at the detonation zone
to review the mechanics of the display and to insure compliance of fire codes and accepted
industry procedures.
The fireworks contractor was International
Fireworks and set up the displays at the HH Little
League fields. At about 6:00 p.m. a brief and very fierce thunderstorm struck [photo], but the pyrotechnic set-ups were protected. [Go to selected fireworks
