about 6:00 p.m., a brief and
very fierce summer thunderstorm struck Hasbrouck Heights causing alarms to sound,
tree branches and wires to fall. It was reported that lighting had struck the New
Municipal Complex, but no serious damage was apparent. The fireworks display had
been organized for that evening, but the pyrotechnic set-ups were protected and the
program proceeded as scheduled.
