Ground Breaking Ceremony
Saturday, October 13, 2001
The groundbreaking ceremony included a salute to the flag, invocation by Rev. Louis
Papara, welcome comments by Councilwoman Marlene Verrastro, remarks by Council President
Garrett R. Pepe and Building Committee Chair Councilman Justin A. DiPisa, and
dedication by Mayor William J. Torre.
Speakers included Assemblywoman and former Mayor Rose Marie Heck and Library Trustees
President Thomas Verrastro, with a benediction by Rev. Joseph Pickard.
With shovels in hand, the Mayor & Council, Library and Seniors formally broke ground
on the New Municipal Complex.

Architects Arcani & Iovino Assocaites, and others who contributed to making this event
a reality.
