Bill O'Shea's Florist Gave Away
1,000 Dozen Roses
For Good Neighbor Day
On September 1, 1999, beginning at 8 a.m. Bill O'Shea's Florist, 109 Boulevard (at the
Circle) in Hasbrouck Heights, gave away a minimum of 1,000 dozen roses (that's 12,000
roses) absolutely free to anyone who visited the shop. Dozens of roses were given away on
a first come first served basis. No purchase was necessary.
According to Bill O'Shea, "The only stipulation was that those picking up the roses
were asked to keep one for themselves and to give the other 11 roses away to 11 different
people and in so doing, help create a friendlier, more caring and compassionate community.
Good Neighbor Day is a day designed for people to meet and get to know their neighbors. A
rose is the perfect expression of friendship and love."
Area residents will had an unprecedented opportunity to meet each other, make new friends
and renew acquaintances on Wednesday, September 1, when Bill O'Shea's Florist hosted Good
Neighbor Day for the fourth year.
Adding to the festivities, Jukebox Radio 103.1FM broadcast live from Bill O'Shea's
showroom from 10 a.m. to noon.
Bill O'Shea's Florist established in 1969, is celebrating their 30th Anniversary.
