Heights Area Supports
Our Troops’ Families
On Saturday, March 3, 2007, Hasbrouck Heights Area residents
conducted a food drive to benefit the Military Family’s
Assistance Center at the Teaneck Armory, located at 1799 Teaneck
Road, Teaneck, NJ.
Donations were dropped off at the VFW Post 4591, 513 Veterans
Place in Hasbrouck Heights between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. About
500 bags of food were donated to include canned goods, cereal,
soup, pasta, canned meats, baby food and paper products.
The Center in Teaneck assists local military families who are
finding it hard to make ends meet. Their spouse is deployed
in Iraq, Afghanistan and other posts around the world.
Access to the food pantry requires showing a Military ID card.
Volunteers who collected food at the VFW and delivered the collection
to the Teaneck Armory included members of VFW Post 4591, Hasbrouck
Heights Fire Department, Bergen County O.E.M., Bergen County
CERT based in Ridgefield, etc. The truck and driver were donated
by Cohen’s Trucking.
At the Teaneck Armory Family Assistance Center, SSG Joseph C.
Collery organized the delivery, gave presentations to the organizers
and spoke about the activities at the Center.
The event was organized by Heights residents Tim Moots and Tom
Meli. ###
