As they approached North Jersey, the pilot radioed controllers to report a stalling engine and running out of fuel when it was diverted to Teterboro Airport, authorities said. As the plane approached Runway 24 from the north, it hit a utility pole, struck power lines causing a brush fire before crashing nose first against a brick wall near a loading dock and into a garbage container. The left fuel tank was empty. Four gallons were in the right tank. The fuel lines were empty with some fuel in the carburetor bowl. The pilot was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger suffered head injuries and was treated at Hackensack University Medical Center. No injuries on the ground were reported. The FAA and National
Transportation Safety Board are investigating. ###
