Camp Rec Trek 2005
[Hasbrouck Heights Recreation Department]

The HH Recreation Department held its 2005 Summer Playground Program.

This year's six week camp was held in Woodland Park June 27 through August 5, Monday through Friday (weather permitting), except Monday, July 4.

This full time summer day camp meant children stayed through lunch with their counselors.

Parents did not have to pick up their children until 3:30 p.m.

Children were expected to bring their own lunch and drink, but were allowed to go home for lunch with their parent's permission.

Each day there were playground activities such as kick ball, coloring, table games, wiffle ball, stick ball, jump ropes, arts & crafts, as well as story telling, children's and teen activities, contests, etc., craft sessions and special theme days.

Numerous field trips were scheduled to include: Bowcraft Amusement Park, Wild West City, Icehouse, Rex Plex, Six Flags Great Adventure and Medieval Times.

Trips were geared for all ages and were supervised by camp counselors.

Special theme days included Anti Drug Day, I Love America Day, Halloween in July Day, Carnival Day, Camp Talent Show and Olympic Day.

The Recreation Department stated that there was enough supervision to handle the children and that children's safety was a main priority.

Camp Rec Trek was open to all Hasbrouck Heights boys and girls ages 6 though 14 who were permanent residents of Hasbrouck Heights.

The cost was $75 per child plus optional trips. The non-refundable fee included all playground activities, most theme days and a "Rec Trek" camp shirt. ###
