Double Wetdown
[Hasbrouck Heights Fire Department]
At noon on Saturday, June 7, 2003,
the Hasbrouck Heights Fire Department conducted a brief ceremony christening Engine #1
(2002 Pierce Custom Pumper), and EMS #2 (International MedTec Ambulance) as part of its
"double wetdown" festivities.
Master of Ceremonies was former Fire Chief Christian Semenez who led the assembly in the
salute to the flag. Fire Department Chaplain Fr. Joe Pickard provided the
invocation and "special blessings". Special recognition was given
to Outback Steakhouse (Secaucus) for donating the food.
Assistant Fire Chief Joe Taylor christened Engine # 1 with a bottle of champagne,
followed by Ambulance Squad Captain Maria Hayes and Lt. Deborah Karlsson christening EMS
#2.
The event was held from noon to 4 p.m. in the Flag House parking lot located behind the
Hilton. There were " T" shirts, mugs, music, food, soda and beer. Members
of local area fire departments participated. Music was provided by "Daddy and Daughter DJ's". Event
chairman was Kevin Todd. The public was invited.
