HASBROUCK HEIGHTS BOARD OF EDUCATION A work session meeting of the Board of Education was held on Tuesday, February 23, 1999, in the Administration Building, 379 Boulevard, Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by President, Mrs. Colleen Jarvis. Mrs. Jarvis read the following statement: "Pursuant to the New Jersey Open Public Meeting Act, Public Law 1975, Chapter 231, the Board Secretary caused notice of this meeting to be given to the public and the press on May 28, 1998". Roll Call was taken by Joseph T. Bellino, School Business Administrator/Board Secretary, and the following members responded to their names: Present - Mrs. Carroll, Dr. MacDonall, Mr. Case, Dr.
Eglow, Mrs. Jarvis, Mrs. Fitzgibbons Absent None Also Present: Dr. Stepura, Mr. Bellino, Mr.Dzwilewski
Athletics and Recreation Committee Mrs. Fitzgibbons reviewed the resolutions to be acted upon at the February 25, 1999 public meeting. Mrs. Fitzgibbons reported the committee met and discussed the following: 1. Summer programs
1. Sports parents group came, offered help at field Community Relations Committee Mr. Casella will provide more articles on new construction progress. Education Committee/Faculty Liaison Mr. Casella Education: 1. State testing Liaison: 1. Substitutes Finance Committee Dr. Eglow reviewed the resolutions to be acted upon at the February 25, 1999 meeting. Dr. Eglow reported the committee met with Municipal Council on the budget. Future Directions Committee Mr. Suriano 1. Grants Mr. Suriano reported Music N More schedules are going out. Labor Relations Committee Discussions to be held in Closed Session: 1. Discussion of grievance (In private session) Policy Committee Mrs. Nasuta discussed the resolution to be acted upon at the February 25, 1999 public meeting. Technology Committee Dr. MacDonall reported that Walsh-Lowe has started their project. New Buildings (Ad Hoc) Mr. Suriano reported Walsh-Lowe has communicated with DMR and there was a joint meeting with municipal and school representatives with Turner and DMR. NJSBA/BCSBA Liaison Mrs. Jarvis reported that NJSBA came to review the Board self-evaluation. Board Issues and Discussions The members discussed the following: 2. Buildings and Grounds: Start on new field questioned. 2. Finance: Adjustments to budget 3. Labor Relations: All discussion in private session Correspondence/School Business Administrator/Board
Secretary Report Old Business/New Business Mrs. Fitzgibbons reported on Advanced Boardsmanship Conference. RESOLUTION: Whereas, in accordance with the provisions of the New Jersey Open Public 2-323-99 Meetings Act the Now, Therefore Be It Resolved, that the Hasbrouck Heights Board of Education adjourn to Private Session for the purpose of discussing such matters, and Be It Further Resolved, that the public be informed of these matters as soon as the need to remain confidential is no longer necessary at a future date to be determined. Resolution moved by Mrs. Carroll, seconded by Mrs. Fitzgibbons and passed by unanimous voice vote of all members present.
